Volunteer
Fowler encourages our employees and friends to engage in their communities through volunteerism. Our employees can take advantage of our Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP). Below, we’ve highlighted just a few of the many non-profits that we have sponsored through the years s and who can benefit from volunteers from the community.
Fowler employees may use VIP for volunteering if eligible for the Voluntary Incentive Program. Employees accrue VIP paid time off in one-half day increments (equivalent 4 hours) per month each anniversary year based on the employee’s date of hire, for a total of 6 days per anniversary year. Employees must request, in advance, any VIP paid time off in writing.

CCFI continues to serve children and their families who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing child abuse, neglect or other adverse experiences.Ā CCFI offers strength-based programs and services to aide and educate families coping with abuse, neglect, divorce, separation, teenage pregnancy, a lack of quality out-of-school care, and/or other adverse experiences. Volunteering with CCFI requires a weekly commitment for at least 6 months. Many of the volunteer shifts are half hour to 1 Ā½ hour shifts.Ā To view volunteer opportunities with CCFI, click here.
Food & Shelter
Food and Shelter started as a once-per-week lunch for people who were homeless and has since grown to be a fully operational soup kitchen and shelter program. For over 30 years, Food and Shelter has been feeding women, children and men who are hungry and housing families in crisis.Ā Food and Shelter are core components of their services and something they believe to be basic human rights of every individual in the community.Ā They serve the most indigent residents of our community many of which live on little to no income. Volunteers help Food and Shelter by cooking, serving and cleaning in the kitchen, helping around the office, taking care of the shelter residents or helping with community events and fundraisers.Ā To view volunteer opportunities with Food & Shelter, click here.
Meals on Wheels of Norman
Meals on Wheels has maintained the same basic philosophy to improve nutrition by providing meal service to the ill, disabled, and senior residents within the Norman city limits. The organization strives to improve the mental health of isolated recipients by providing visitation and to improve the well-being of senior citizens in coordination with existing services in the Norman area. 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary
Second Chance Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non-profit no-kill shelter. They receive no city, state or federal funds. The shelter runs ONLY on donations. Their mission is to give abandoned dogs and cats a second chance at a forever home. All the animals are vet checked, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated appropriate to age, de-wormed and kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Our dogs are heartworm and tick disease tested and our cats are FIV/Felv tested. We do not rescue animals from the public, We rescue dogs and cats from local shelters and house nearly 100 dogs and cats, while finding homes for over 600 animals annually. Volunteers at the shelter: walking the dogs, socializing the cats, cleaning, sweeping and mopping, doing laundry, making adoption packets, doing light office work, and helping with customer service.Ā To learn more about volunteer opportunities with Second Chance, click here.
Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma
The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma depends on a strong volunteer force to fulfill their mission of “Fighting Hunger…Feeding Hope” in central and western Oklahoma. Every day volunteers sort, pack or make enough food to fill a semi-truck!Ā Volunteer projects include packing boxes to send to agencies, compiling sacks of child-friendly food for our Backpack Program, repackaging large quantities of frozen food into family-sized bags, packing boxes of donated bread and more.Ā Ā For more information about volunteering with Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, click here.
Homeless Alliance
The Homeless Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the system of care for the homeless in Oklahoma City through collaboration with government, faith-based and nonprofit service providers. The Day Shelter provides services to an average of 275 guests per day. Services include breakfast and lunch, showers, telephones and computers. In addition, guests at the day shelter have access to a variety of services from community agencies to assist guests with ending their homelessness: for example mental health and substance abuse treatment, primary healthcare, veterans services, budgeting support, case management, job training and placement. The Day Shelter also offers a dog kennel. Whiz Kids
The ability to read has been shown to be one of the key indicators of future success. Whiz Kids focuses on reading due to our state’s alarming illiteracy rates. In Oklahoma, 74% of fourth graders read below grade level. Most of the tutoring hour is spent reading to/with the child or listening to the child read. Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma
The mission of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is to feed the hungry of eastern Oklahoma through a network of Partner Programs and to engage communities in ending hunger. Their vision is food security, with dignity, for all eastern Oklahomans.Ā The Product Recovery Room is the flagship volunteer program at the Food Bank, offering day, evening and weekend shifts. Humane Society of Tulsa
The Humane Society of Tulsa is a private non-profit organization committed to the promotion of responsible pet ownership and pet population control. They strive to accomplish these goals by working hand in hand with the community to provide education, counseling and assistance on proper pet care and the importance of spaying and neutering. TheyĀ hope to inspire awareness and compassion for all animals great and small. Tulsa Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa is a non-profit community service organization whose mission is to preserve the dignity and independence of homebound elderly andĀ disabled persons by providing them with nutritious home-delivered meals, caring contacts, and other services which enrich their lives. When you are a Meals on Wheels volunteer, you are delivering much more than a hot meal – you are providing human connection. For many of our homebound seniors, you will be the only person they see or talk to all day. A typical volunteer route takes about an hour to complete. Up with Trees
Tree by tree, you can help grow Tulsa’s urban forest. Every tree planted in Tulsa not only makes the community more beautiful, it makes it more livable. FRIENDS of Broomfield
FRIENDS of Broomfield is a community-oriented organization that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities. FRIENDS of Broomfield currently has three programs that serve adults with developmental disabilities. Their flagship program, FRIENDS Unlimited, is a day programĀ that stresses community access and integration. They also have a growing residential program with two components. The first is called On My Own and is designed to assist adults in an independent living situation. The second covers comprehensive support. The final program is comprised of evening activities. We offer both social outings and Life Skills classes. Volunteering can be fun and rewarding, no matter how you choose to get involved. A Precious Child
A Precious Child provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. A Precious Child focuses on meeting a child’s most basic needs such as clothing, shoes, coats, backpacks and school supplies. Community Food Share
Community Food Share’s mission is to be a leader in the community’s effort to end hunger in Boulder and Broomfield Counties Community Food Share is the Feeding America food bank for Boulder and Broomfield counties. Their food is distributed free of charge through 45 partner agencies and several direct distribution programs. Volunteer shifts for individuals and families are offered on weekdays between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM, with evening shifts available on Tuesdays until 6:30 PM. Weekend opportunities are available on the third Saturday of the month from 9:00 AM until noon. The Humane Society of Boulder Valley
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley provides shelter and care to more than 7,000 animals each year, with 93 percent of these animals being successfully adopted or reunited with their guardians. Our Animal Care Team is designed to support the daily care of the animals at Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
